Visiting museums is a favorite pastime of mine. I don't know much about art, but I do love looking at it. Lol! Also, it's a great way to spend a day off. Los Angeles is the home to over 50 museums, and most of them are free/affordable (bring your student i.d. if you have one).

This past Sunday, I went to The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) on Grand. MOCA is relatively small compared to other museums, but the collections are really cool. My favorites are Chris Burden's Hell Gate, Hito Steyerl's Factory of the sun installation, Dan Flavin's Monument, and John Baldessari's I will not make any more boring art.

RUNYON CANYON

I totally underestimated Runyon Canyon. (Note-to-self: Do more cardio!) I can see why it's such a popular hiking trail. I didn't think I was going to be rock climbing, hopping over wooden logs, or huffing and puffing up a continuous series of stairs, but it was so worth it. It's a fun challenge surrounded by scenic views of the city, and I promise even through the Los Angeles smog it's quite impressive.

CARNIVAL CRUISE

I enjoyed this cruise more than I thought I would've. If you love to eat and love vegas, then this is definitely something you have to experience. Just think of a Vegas hotel floating on water with 24 hour access to free food. I was so nervous to be on a ship for a week, because I used to get sea sick riding on my dad's naval ship when I was younger. A little tip for people who get motion sickness - Buy Sea Band, it worked wonders. Without it I would've probably puked my brains out. 

CATALINA ISLAND

The first time I heard of Catalina was on the t.v. show Laguna Beach. I never thought I'd have the opportunity to come here. This island is such a nice getaway from the city. I'm in dire need to come back once it gets warmer. Fyi, it's a free roundtrip ride on your birthday!
